So far the reported events have unfolded like this:
∎ An off-duty federal police officer brought his German Shepherd to a dog park
∎ Bear Bear was off lead; the German Shepherd was still on lead
∎ The police officer maintains that his + his wife's safety was compromised which is why he gunned down the Siberian Husky
∎ Bear Bear's owner maintains the two dogs were playing roughly
∎ After the initial shooting, it was maintained that no charges could be pressed against the police officer; however thanks to a lot of public support this has now changed.
Even though it seems like the story is spun, I still can’t see how the officer could justify releasing his weapon just to stop the fight. Although there was a fight, many who had been in that situation, broke or stop it without gaining issue and without too much violence.
It would be lovely if you could sign the petition & add further public support to ensure a senseless tragedy like this doesn't happen again. After all it was life that had been killed.
